Fixed Deposits are not really an “investment” as the returns will not be more than a percent after taxes and inflation and against opportunity cost always negative. A Fixed Deposit never generates wealth or any major positive returns of any kind. It’s better than keeping cash in savings as an “investment point” but as bad as losing out on chances to create wealth. For those who think it helps at rainy day times (urgent needs), It still takes a day to break and get back (in most cases if not all) and you lose any interest generated and instead pay an early break penalty fee. I don’t see any value of an FD in value growth.
